Arctic warships
A day or 2 out of Seydisfjordur and into the Denmark Strait we spotted an aircraft carrier.
Zoomed in.
It has two islands. This is a British carrier. The UK has two: this is either the Queen Elizabeth or the Prince of Wales.
A few hours later we saw a destroyer.
Zoomed in.
Its distinctive profile identifies it as a British class 45 destroyer.
Carriers always travel in force, with perhaps 6 to 12 ships, including nuclear submarines.
It was nice to see the Brits patrol the high seas. It may be a gesture by NATO to indicate that Greenland is safely within the European and ultimately within the Western orbits of power and influence.
